Intumescent fire dampers can be used anywhere a regular fire damper can be, however the most common use for them is within fire doors. This is thanks to their slim profile and ability to retain airflow through the door.
When used in fire doors, Series IFB dampers integrate with other HVC products like NV4 non vision grilles and pressed steel grilles.
HVC Intumescent Fire Dampers are rated for a period of one hour after expansion, which takes approximately five minutes at 100 degrees Celsius.
During normal use intumescent dampers have approximately a 60% free area, and also require no maintenance. The plastic wrapping surrounding the intumescent material sheds dust easily, but does not hinder the damper's expansion in fires.
If Intumescent Fire Dampers are not looking up to scratch, why not look to our S300 in-door fire dampers. With a closure time of a few seconds after exposure to fusible link melting temperatures, a much higher free area when open, and a six hour fire rating rather than one, S300 Fire Dampers are all round more capable units.
