Application

  • Endurance Tested to BS476-20 by Warrington F.R.C. for 6 hours with guaranteed closure in both vertical and horizontal planes
  • Tested to the latest BS1366-2 (ISO10294-1) for the maximum 4 hours at 300 Pascals by the Building Research Establishment

With a blade pack housed within an extended section during normal use, blades are completely protected from the airstream, and so S100BS Fire Dampers can be used in any velocity airstream without affecting performance.

The benefits of an entirely stainless steel construction can be seen when S100BS fire dampers are fitted in swimming pools, coastal areas, or anywhere else with corrosive substances in the air, where lesser, galvanised steel fire dampers would quickly be damaged.

Description

Excellent corrosion resistance is guaranteed with S100BS Fire Dampers thanks to a fully stainless steel construction, and corrosion tests have been carried out to prove this. Fire testing though is obviously the main requirement of a fire damper, and so all HVC S100 Fire Dampers have been proven to satisfy BS1366-2 (ISO10294-1) and BS476-20 in independent tests.

Fire tests are the minimum required by a fire damper, but HVC has gone a step further. S100 Fire Dampers have been tested for corrosion resistance by being subjected to a 20% salt spray for 120 hours, reliability tested with 250 cycles, and dust loading by exposure to a sand / dust mixture. After each test, dampers were found to operate successfully.

Stainless Grades

As standard Grade 430 is used to manufacture all stainless steel fire dampers, however 316 and 304 can be specified for even greater corrosion resistance

Visual Position Indicator

Allows the blade pack position to be observed from outside ductwork

Microswitch

Creates an electrical circuit when the blade pack closes, informing systems that a fire may have caused the damper to close

Solenoid

Releases the fusible link when power is gained, closing the damper remotely

Electromagnet

Releases the fusible link when power is lost, enabling remote damper operation

Fusible Link

As an alternative to the standard 72°C rating, 96°C, 145°C and 183°C are available on request
