Passive fire dampers which expand to block their aperture upon exposure to elevated temperatures. Please note that IFBM dampers have replaced IFB60's, please download the product PDF for detailed information.
Intumescent fire dampers differ from regular fire dampers in that they have no moving parts; instead, they expand to many times their normal size upon exposure to elevated temperatures indicative of a fire, forming an incombustible mass that seals its aperture, preventing the spread of fire and hot smoke.
Intumescent Fire Dampers are suitable for installation in fire doors, plasterboard walls and ductwork (vertical installations only). As passive devices, during normal operation, they have a free area of approximately 60%. Upon exposure to elevated temperatures, they expand quickly to fill the aperture where they have been installed which creates a single, incombustible mass, preventing the spread of fire and hot smoke through the aperture. With no moving parts and a smooth plastic outer skin, intumescent fire dampers do not require any maintenance beyond a periodic wipe down using a damp cloth.
